Allpay is the market leader of payment services within the UK public and social housing sector, providing a range of payment channels to more than 50% of UK local authorities and 90% of the UK's top 200 housing associations.
I was responsible for the frontend and backend website build for 'Allpay.net'. After the design approval I began turning the design into a static HTML5 templates. For creating the CSS I have used LESS pre-processors while applying object-oriented CSS (OOCSS) keeping the project stylesheet well-structured broken down into functional components. BEM - Block Element Modifier is a methodology that helps you create reusable components and code sharing in front-end development. The Homepage is composed of various sections, the hero section has two call-to-actions represented in interactive way funnelling traffics to the wanted pages. Below the fold a series of sections that introduces various areas of the site, every section on the page is built in modular fashion that allows the content editor to add/remove/arrange components across the page.
The content is displayed using various UI element like carousels, sliders, tabs, info panels, accordions, cards list, videos and many more. The website content is administered and managed by Umbraco 7 content management system (CMS). I have built various modules that meet the client’s requirements and I have made content editing experience more flexible by allowing the editor to have a series of components 'widgets' that they can drop in any given area.
The end result is a lean, modular website, allowing content-editors to build unique pages from bespokely designed user-interface.
Website Speed Tuning and Optimisation
I have employed industry best-practices to achieve an A-graded website that loads instantly and keep Allpay's customers happy. The website speed optimisation includes various techniques such-as delivering images from a content-delivery-network 'CDN', caching images, progressive image loading, caching static resources and the list goes on. Having a load-balancing in-place was one of the client requirements, I have used Umbraco Flexible Load-balancing scenario with the use of cloud based auto-scaling Web-Apps technique.
Website Speed Tuning results
The homepage loads under 1 second, page-size less then 1mb, increase page-views & session duration, lower bounce rate. The outcome a website that is BLAZING FAST, all around a happy client!
